New Delhi, Mar 18 : Refuting the Opposition charge that Jammu and Kashmir has become a jail after the abrogation of Article 370, BJP on Wednesday said now, the northern Union Territories have become 'open for all', 'open for peace' and 'open for development'.

''Jammu and Kashmir has not become an 'open jail', in fact, it is now 'open for peace', 'open for development' and 'open for tourism'. It is closed for terrorism,'' Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said in his intervention during the debate on Supplementary Demands for Grants and Demands for Grants for 2020-21 for Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in the Lok Sabha. People of SC, ST community and women were being granted their Fundamental Rights after 70 years, he maintained.

He stressed that incidents of pelting stones at security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have reduced by 40-45 per cent since the abrogation of Article 370. For the first time, Block Development Council has been chosen, the Minister said, adding that not a single life has been lost in anti-terrorist operation, since the nullification of Article 370.(UNI)
