New Delhi, Mar 5: The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned to March 23 the hearing of a plea filed by the Centre & National Capital Territory of Delhi Government seeking permission to execute the four 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape-murder convicts separately.
Headed by Justice R Banumathi, the three-judge bench was apprised by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, that there was no mercy petition of the convicts pending. Mehta said,' Yes, all are dismissed.'
AP Singh, counsel for convicts Akshay Kumar Singh and Vinay Sharma, submitted that this is not true. Akshay Singh's second mercy plea is pending.
Apex Court said that it will hear the Delhi government's appeal for permission to hang the four Nirbhaya case convicts separately on March 23, Monday.(UNI)
