New Delhi, Mar 2 : Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said teachers are the harbingers of education and innovation.
Addressing over 1,000 teachers from all over India at 'Shunya se Sashaktikaran' event organised by Sri Aurobindo Society here at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Mr Javadekar said,' teachers are the harbingers of education and innovation and cannot be replaced by anyone. Not even by advancing technologies.'
"A country cannot progress without innovation, which goes hand-in-hand with good education, and teachers have a huge role to play there," the former education minister added while encouraging the gathering of educators.
Citing an example of the co-founder of Apple -- Steve Jobs, Mr Javadekar said, "iPhones were being planned when I met the American innovator. What impressed me the most was that without even holding a handset in his hands, he elaborated how the new gadget will operate. This is what innovation is. Turning a plan into reality through vision.' "That's what we have to prepare our students for," he added. The Union Minister said that population control does not need law, but proper education.
"I was recently asked about the implementation of population control law in the country, but after observing that a generation prior to ours used to have over five kids and now the number has come down to one, I think education is all we need." The Minister later felicitated the teachers for their contribution in the field of innovation. (UNI)
