New Delhi, Mar 3 : Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his tweet that he is thinking to giving up his social media account, saying "quit wasting India's time playing the clown with your social media accounts, when India is facing an emergency".
In a series of tweets, Mr Gandhi said that "focus the attention of every Indian on taking on the Coronavirus challenge". "Here's how it's done", the Congress leader said while attaching a video of Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong urging people not to panic and telling them that fear can do more harm than the spreading coronavirus.
"There are moments in the life of every nation when its leaders are tested", Mr Gandhi said in another tweet without taking any name. "A true leader would be completely focused on averting the massive crisis about to be unleashed by the virus on India and its economy", he added while tagging his February 12 tweet, in which he had said that "his sense is the government is not taking this threat seriously".
Mr Gandhi's response came minutes after the Prime Minister posted a message on his twitter account that he "will give away my social media accounts to women whose life and work inspire us", on the Women's Day, with a hashtag #SheInspiresUs. Meanwhile, Mr Modi in tweet said, "there is no need to panic". "We need to work together, take small yet important measures to ensure self-protection", Mr Modi added. (UNI)
