New Delhi, Mar 3 : A high-level committee of Health Ministry will hold a meeting on Wednesday to review the preparedness for combating COVID-19 as three persons including an Italian national tested positive for the deadly virus in the past 24 hours. The meeting will be chaired by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, an official said.
Beside the minister, Director of AIIMS, head of Lady Harding Hospital, Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, Principal and Special Health and Family Welfare Secretary of Delhi government will attend the meeting. Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Corporation and Commissioners of three civic bodies--South Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation--are also called for the meeting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reviewed the preparedness for coronavirus. “Had an extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Different ministries & states are working together, from screening people arriving in India to providing prompt medical attention.There is no need to panic. We need to work together, take small yet important measures to ensure self-protection,” Prime Minister said in series of tweets.
As many as 305 travellers from the coronavirus-affected countries have been identified and 237 are kept under home isolation in Kerala. Most of the state governments have set up their camp for the passengers coming from virusaffected countries. They are screened and monitored at the camps. The deadly virus which broke out in China has so far claimed the lives of around 3,000 people while the number of confirmed cases climbed to over 80,000. (UNI)
