New Delhi, Feb 14: With the Supreme Court issuing notice to Jammu and Kashmir administration over the detention of former chief minister Omar Abdulla, his sister Sara Abdullah Pilot, on Friday, said the family is hoping that he would be released soon.
"We have full faith in the justice system. We are here (Supreme Court) in hope that people of Kashmir have the same rights as the rest of India. We are waiting for that day", Ms Pilot responded to mediapersons. Earlier in the day, the apex court had sent notice to the Jammu and Kashmir administration over the detention of Mr Abdullah, who has been incarcerated since August 5, the day when the Union government abrogated Article 370.
Questioning the decision to impose stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) against Ms Abdullah, his sister approached the Supreme Court. Declining Ms Abdullah's request to take up the matter earlier, the apex court stated that it will consider the plea on March 2. Besides, Mr Abdullah, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had imposed PSA against former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. (UNI)
