New Delhi, Feb 10 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday expressed his happiness over cheap power tariff which become a part of political discourse across the nation. "I am glad cheap electricity has become part of national political discourse.
Delhi has shown that it is possible to provide free/cheap electricity. Delhi has shown that it also gets you votes. 21st century India must have 24x7 power available to all at cheap rates," Mr Kejriwal tweeted. The Chief Minister was reacting to a news that Maharashtra Aghadi Government were mulling to provide free electricity up to 100 units. “The state government have asked our department to look into whether the scheme can be implemented.
The department will be submitting a report within the next three months,” the state power minister Nitin Raut told reporters on Friday in Mumbai. The Delhi government has been providing 200 units free electricity to consumers while up to 400 units electricity is being provided on subsidy basis. During the campaign trail, AAP had promised that the all free government schemes will continue.
The CM's reaction comes one day ahead of Delhi Assembly polls results for which the voting was held on Saturday. All exit polls conducted have predicting Kejriwal-led AAP's landslide win. (UNI)
