Lucknow, Feb 10: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday issued a notice to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary on Congress' complaint over reported brutal conduct of police, during demonstrations against CAA and NRC.
NHRC has sought a detailed and specific report within six weeks.
This was informed through a letter of the NHRC by a senior Congress leader here on Monday. A Congress delegation, led by its general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, had met the NHRC chairperson in Delhi on January 27 and complained about the atrocities on the women and others protesting against the CAA and NRC.
The Congress leaders alleged that the action of the UP police was gross misuse of human rights of the protesting women in different parts of the state. (UNI)
