This is first time since 1998 that Delhi witnessed a drop in voter turnout as in Delhipolls 2020 only recorded 61 percent voter turnout.
Until now, since 1998, Delhi had been recording an increase in the overall voter turnout in successive elections. The voter turnout in last Delhi polls in 2015 was 67.12 percent. With a 61% polling till 10:20pm according to the Election Commission, an over 6 percent decline happened compared with the 2015 polls.
This time across constituencies, Matia Mahal in Central Delhi registered the highest voter turnout of 68.36% while Bawana in North Delhi saw the lowest turnout at 41.95%. The results of the triangular contest between the AAP, BJP and Congress will be out on February 11.
