New Delhi, Feb 6 : In a sharp attack on the Opposition parties, including the Congress over its protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that Opposition is misleading and misinforming people over the Act and sponsoring anti-CAA protests across the country.
Replying to the debate in the Rajya Sabha on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament, the PM also rejected the Opposition criticism of the abrogation of the Article 370 and Article 35 A.
He also allayed any apprehensions over the state of the Indian economy and said the fundamentals of the Indian economy remain strong. Expressing concern over the protests across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act , the PM charged the Opposition, including the Congress, of misleading and misinforming people on the Act. "A discussion has been held on the CAA in Parliament.
It is the responsibility of all of us to give a correct information about the Citizenship Act to the people and not mislead them. Those misinforming people about the CAA must introspect. Should they be supporting anti-CAA protesters. Instead of scaring people on CAA, correct information should be given," the PM said.
He said no one can reap political benefits out of the anti-CAA protests. "The path being taken on CAA by many Opposition parties is unfortunate. No one is going to reap political benefits out of protests against Citizenship Law," the PM said.(UNI)
