New Delhi, Feb 5 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday listed for hearing on February 7, the petitions filed by BJP leader Nand Kishore Garg, and lawyer Amit Sahni to remove the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protesters from Shaheen Bagh.
The petitioners -- Dr Garg and Sahni -- in their petiton, stated that blocking of road connecting Delhi to Noida is causing severe inconvenience to the general public and thereby the Apex Court should pass appropriate order and directions in this regard. Dr Garg said the protests were causing severe inconvenience to the common people as the protesters had blocked entire vehicular and pedestrian movement from the road connecting between two important cities i.e. Delhi and Noida.
There are thousands of protestors blocking the road connecting Delhi to Noida and traffic diversions caused a lot of hardships for general public and commuters, so the Apex Court should pass appropriate directions to the concerned authorities in this regard, he said.
Dr Garg also sought a direction to the Centre, police and the Delhi government to take immediate steps to remove protesters from Shaheen Bagh who have now been protesting for more than two months against the CAA by blocking the road connecting Delhi to Noida. (UNI)
