New Delhi, Feb 4 : Alleging that the BJP-led union government had made ‘hollow claims’ in the Budget about the interest of farmers, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday said that the “incident of a farmer’s suicide in Uttar Pradesh was exposing their claims”.
“When the BJP government was making hollow claims in the Budget about the interest of farmers, a farmer’s suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda was exposing their claims”, the Congress general secretary tweeted in Hindi. Sharing news report over the alleged suicide in the BJP-ruled state, Ms Priyanka further said that “incidents of farmer suicides are not stopping due to debt, in Budhelkhand. But the BJP never bothered about it”.
In the Budget, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced a 16 point action plan to revive the agriculture sector, which has been praised by many. (UNI)
