New Delhi, Feb 4 : Big furore was sparked off in Lok Sabha on Tuesday when opposition members led by Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury raised the issue of controversial remarks against Mahatma Gandhi allegedly made by a BJP leader.
The charge was outright denied by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi during Zero Hour. "We are the real followers of Mahatma Gandhi...these people are followers of Nakli Gandhi like Sonia Gandhi......," Mr Joshi remarked uproarious scenes. Raising the issue, Congress floor leader Mr Chowdhury said it was unbecoming of a ruling party leader Ananth Hegde for making such statement against Mahatma Gandhi. "Aaj yeh Mahatma Gandhi ko gaali deten haen....(Today these people are showing disrespect to Mahatma Gandhi)," Mr Chowdhury said and some of his remarks were 'expunged' from the proceedings of the House.
During Zero Hour, members from Kerala including N K Premachandran of RSP and K Suresh of Congress said urgent steps should be taken on the issue of Coronavirus as three cases have been confirmed from the southern state. The government should make a statement in the House, Mr Suresh demanded. "The Government is serious about Coronavirus and is taking steps," Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal said. LS Speaker Om Birla also said that the government will take necessary steps seriously on the matter. (UNI)
