New Delhi, Feb 3: BJP's old ally Shiv Sena on Monday said it will oppose the NRC and stressed that the government should focus on real issues like rising unemployment and soaring prices instead of NRC. ''Are all real problems like unemployment, price rise and violence, solved that you are talking about NRC and NPR,'' said Shiv Sena member Vinayak Raut during debate on President's address to joint sitting of Parliament.
He said the Shiv Sena has supported the government when Citizenship Amendment Bill was brought in Parliament but the party wanted to know the data. ''How many immigrants have come to India and in which states have they settled,'' he asked and wanted to know how many immigrants had been given Aadhaar. He said the country is being misled through NRC. ''If NRC takes place, 35 crore people will have to be kept under detention camps. Act on real issues,'' he said.(UNI)
