Agency News

New Delhi, Feb 3 : Proceedings in the Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the third time till 3pm on Monday after a determined Opposition demanded a debate on the issue of NPR and the amended citizenship law.

As soon as the proceedings resumed in the post-lunch session, the protesting Opposition members led by Trinamool Congress raised slogans against the controversial National Population Register and Citizenship (Amendment) Act and entered the well of the House.

The Chair adjourned the House till 3pm after the Opposition erupted with slogans as Bhupendra Yadav, BJP, moved the Motion of Thanks on President's Ram Nath Kovind's speech supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act. As bedlam persisted, the Chair then adjourned the House -- for the third time today. Earlier, the House was adjourned during Zero Hour till noon and for the second time till 2pm. (UNI)
