New Delhi, Feb 3: The principal Opposition Congress on Monday lashed out at BJP for unleashing a new style of politics of making 'inflammatory speeches' and aggressive attack on rivals saying a 'political master at the top' seemed to have given approval to such gestures by ruling party leaders and Union Ministers.

Taking part in the debate in Lok Sabha on the Motion of Thanks to President's address, Congress member Gaurav Gogoi slammed the BJP government for fielding its controversial lawmaker Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma to initiate the discussion on the motion. ''Why should Parliament listen to a person who is banned by the Election Commission..,'' the Congress member said referring to the BJP's decision to field West Delhi MP Verma for moving the motion and initiating the debate.

Earlier, Congress and members of other parties, including DMK, AIMIM and RSP, staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha to ventilate their protest. Verma has been in news for his controversial remarks in the run-up to the February 8 Delhi Assembly polls and was also banned by the poll panel for 96 hours. ''Today, inflammatory statement is being made on the approval from top,'' Gogoi said. Earlier, taking part in the discussion, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) member PK Kunhalikutty said the President's address was quite disappointing. The GDP is on a downward trend and poverty is increasing, he said. (UNI)
