The Union Government targets doubling farm income by 2022. In her Budget speech on Saturday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said a 15-action plan on this front. Agricultural credit target was being raised to be set at Rs 15 lakh crore.
She stressed that farm markets had to be liberalised.
Model agricultural Acts passed by Parliament needed to be implemented by State Governments, she said.
On the alternative energy resources in the fa sector, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Mahabhiyan would to be expanded to provide 20 lakh farmers for setting up standalone solar pumps.
The Budget proposes to raise fish production to 200 lakh tonnes by 2022-23.
Regarding use of fertilisers, Nirmala said the Government proposed to encourage balanced use of all fertilisers. As part of this there would be change in the incentive regime to encourage checking excessive use of chemical fertilisers.
To resolve logistics and transport bottlenecks, the Government proposes to have a Kisan Rail' for quick transporting farm produce across the country.
Comprehensive measures would be undertaken in 100 water-stressed districts in the country.
