New Delhi, Feb 1 : Terming the Union Budget a 'misleading balloon' that can burst any day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday said the budget lacks solutions to uplift the destitutes and farmers of this country.
Addressing reporters at his residence here, Kamal Nath said that the 2020-21 budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is hollow and no steps have been taken to increase economic activity in it. "If there is no economic activity in the country, then the economy cannot be brought back on track.
It is clear from this budget that instead of taking measures for economic reform the government is misleading the people", he asserted. He said that rural areas have been neglected in the budget and Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme's (MNREGA) budget has been cut.
"This will reduce the employment of rural people and increase unemployment in the village", he said. "Similarly, budget has also been cut for education. The country has been misled in the name of smart city. The money that Madhya Pradesh should have got has also been reduced.", he pointed out. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has destroyed the economy in last five years and no steps are being taken to revive it. (UNI)
