Kanpur, Jan 28: Attacking Modi government at the Centre, former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha here on Tuesday claimed that on one side democracy was in peril while on the other the whole world was perturbed about India's economic situation.
He told mediapersons after garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the presence of Samajwadi Party (SP) workers that the economy of the country was in a worrisome state as the Modi government did not solve the problems that they inherited.
Mr Sinha pointed the NPA issue, demonetisation and hasty implementation of GST. He said the wrong economic policies first fell on the agricultural sector and then to small and medium industries. Now, its effect could be seen in the whole country, he added.
Sinha also demanded a judicial inquiry into the violence that took place in the aftermath of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
He said through the CAA, the Union government was dividing the people in the name of religion. (UNI)
