Kalaburagi, Jan 21: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday called on all political parties to join hands against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, saying it was discriminatory and 'anti people' in nature. He told mediapersons at Kalaburagi Airport here, before participating in a convention against CAA at Peera Bangali Maidan that, "Now, Anti-CAA movement was not a political movement. It has now converted into a mass movement and I urge all sections of the society to join this movement."
Lauding the role played by youth during these protests, Yechury said, "We want to take this movement forward because we think that this is a defining movement in Indian history." Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party, Yechury accused BJP of resorting to communal polarization for vote bank politics. "BJP has come out with buy one get three package, buy CAA, you get NRC , NPR free and again NRC and NPR is a joint package", he said. (UNI)
