New Delhi, Jan 21: Telcos moved Supreme Court on Tuesday and mentioned the matter before the Chief Justice court seeking more time to pay the AGR (Adjusted Gross Revenue). The court on October 24, last year, upheld the move of Department of Telecom to recover the AGR of about Rs 92,000 crore from the telcos.
It had also recently dismissed the review plea filed by the telcos challenging the earlier verdict, which had asked them to pay the AGR to the Centre.
A bench, headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, said, the matter will be heard by the bench of Justice Arun Mishra.
"We are working out schedule with the government. We are not contesting issue,' counsel for the telcos, mentioned before apex court. The top court, after hearing the mentioning, by lawyers, agreed to list their plea next week. (UNI)
