Rejecting Senior Advocate Indira Jaisingh’s advice to forgive all four rapists who are going to be hanged, Nirbhaya’s mother, Asha Devi retorted saying ‘I don't need her advice’.
“Jaising wants to protect rapists. I am running from pillar to post. Lawyers take money from people. Jaising wants rapists to be forgiven. Rapists are now using delaying tactics,” a harrowing Asha Devi said.
“Till now, I never talked about politics, but now I want to say that those people who held protests on streets in 2012, today the same people are only playing with my daughter's death for political gains,” said Asha Devi.
Senior advocate Indira Jaising had sparked a row requesting Nirbhaya's mother to pardon the four convicts on death row who were convicted for the 2012 gang rape of her daughter.
Quoting the example of Sonia Gandhi who forgave Nalini, the convict of Rajiv Gandhi assassination, Indira Jaising urged Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother, to follow suit. Indira Jaising’s request came soon after Asha Devi on Friday expressed her disappointment when a Delhi court postponed the date of the execution of the four convicts, which raised many eyebrows.
