New Delhi, Jan 17: Invoking extraordinary powers under the provisions of the National Security Act, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has vested Delhi Police with powers of detention.
The Delhi Police Commissioner has been given the detention powers for three months beginning January 19 as per the order by the LG.
The order by the Delhi LG has come at a time when the national capital is reeling under various protests against the CAA and NRC for more than a month.
However, according to sources, it is a routine order which is issued for every quarter giving the police chief powers to detain someone under the NSA and there was nothing new in this. (UNI)
