New Delhi, Jan 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar on his Jayanti.
'I bow to the great Thiruvalluvar on his Jayanti. His rich thoughts and literary works give strength to millions. He inspires us to work towards social equality, justice and compassion,' Mr Modi said in his tweet.
Thiruvalluvar, commonly known as Valluvar, was best known as the author of Thirukkuṛaḷ, a collection of couplets on ethics, political and economical matters, and love.
Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu also remembered the great Tamil poet. 'Considered as one of the greatest classics in Tamil Literature on morality, values and ethics, the treatise on a variety of subjects, including governance remains relevant for all times,' he tweeted. (UNI)
