New Delhi, Jan 14: Locking horns with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella for his comment on Citizenship Amendment Act, BJP lawmaker from New Delhi Meenakshi Lekhi on Tuesday slammed him in a tweet.

"How literate need to be educated. Perfect example. Precise reason for CAA is to grant opportunities to persecuted minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan & Afghanistan," Ms Lekhi tweeted. "How about granting these opportunities to Syrian Muslims instead of Yezidis in USA ?," she wrote.

Indian origin CEO of Microsoft Mr Nadella has said - "I think what is happening is sad, primarily as sort of someone who grew up there... I think it's just bad". He, however, stated - "I would love to see a Bangladeshi immigrant who comes to India and creates the next unicorn in India or becomes the next CEO of Infosys". Mr Nadella, now an American citizen, grew up in Hyderabad. Microsoft India also issued a statement quoting Mr Nadella where he reiterates his hope for "an India where an immigrant can aspire to found a prosperous start-up". The CEO's statement also said every country should define its borders, protect national security and set immigration policy accordingly. BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said: "As far as immigrants are concerned, there is a process for citizenship. Anybody can apply for citizenship. Even the prime minister has said so". (UNI)
