New Delhi, Jan 2 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid respect to the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singhji on the occasion of his Prakash Parv.
"We bow to the venerable Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on his Prakash Parv," Prime Minister tweeted. The tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singhji was a spiritual master, warrior, poet and philosopher. When his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, was beheaded for refusing to convert to Islam, Guru Gobind Singh was formally installed as the leader of the Sikhs at age nine.
He became the tenth Sikh Guru. His four sons also died during his lifetime – two in battle and two others were executed by the Mughal army. Born on January 5, 1666, Guru Gobind Singh breathed his last on October 7, 1708. Three years back, the 350th Prakash Parv (also called Prakash Utsav) was celebrated with religious fervour in January 2017 in Patna and the rest of the world. (UNI)
