New Delhi, Dec 12: The Government is working on transplantation of trees technology to speed up projects on which the Environment Ministry has not given approval due to felling of trees, the Lok Sabha was informed.
Speaking during Question Hour, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said under the technology, they can transplant 100 per cent tree and there was no need of cutting trees further.
Responding to a supplementary, the Minister said, 'They are working on technology and if it were developed properly, they can get early approvals from the Environment and Forest Ministry."
Under the technique, a tree was shifted from one place to another with its roots and soil intact.
Replying to a query, Mr Gadkari said a project was delayed due to several reasons such as land acquisition, Environment Ministry clearance, Defence land or court cases. He said they have got clearance on 32 land projects and would start work on them very soon. UNI
