New Delhi, Dec 4: Former Congress president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday raised matters concerning a key railway project in his constituency in Kerala and sought central support to the government of Kerala.
Raising the issue under 'special mention' under the provisions of Rule 377 in the post-lunch session in the Lok Sabha, Mr Gandhi said the Nilambur-Nanjangud railway line is crucial for the people of his constituency Wayanad and thus it should be taken up at the earliest. He said the Centre should extend support to the CPI (M)-led Kerala government for completing the project.
Nilambur falls under Wayanad region while Nanjangud is in Karnataka. Among others, DMK Member M Kanimozhe and BJP lawmakers Ravi Kishan and Locket Chatterjee also raised matters concerning their constituencies. Ms Chatterjee said her constituency Hooghly was once hub of jute production and thus the Centre should take immediate steps to revive jute industry. (UNI)
