Giving a fitting tribute to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, who paved the way for the first Thackeray Chief Minister in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ called Pawar as ‘Margadarshak’.
Today evening, the Sena's leader, Uddhav Thackeray, will be sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra as a leader of coalition of contradictions. Praising the old war horse, the formidable Sharad Pawar, Saamana says he can give just about anyone a tip or two about statecraft. “Even he might look back in wonder at the extraordinary turn of events that moved the Shiv Sena to call him a "margdarshak", or guide,” Saamana article says.
Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress were once foes of Shiv Sena, but the party is preparing to take lead of an unlikely alliance now.
But at the same time, the Saamana newspaper tore into the BJP, who was their ally for last 30 years, on Thursday, saying "forming governments with terror and toppling" had gone on for the past five years but Maharashtra had "overshadowed it all".
