New Delhi, Nov 28: Controversial BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, who was dropped from consultative panel on Defence, by her party on Thursday lashed out at her detractors and said she has been misquoted vis-a-vis her remarks on Nathuram Godse.

"Kabhi jhoot ka bawandar itna gehra hota hai ki raat bhi din lagne lagti hai (At times, the power of falsehood is so much that even darkness of night appears to be broad daylight)," Ms Thakur tweeted within hours BJP working president J P Nadda 'condemned' her remarks and announced her removal from the Consultative Committee to the Ministry of Defence.

The Bhopal MP said that she was 'misquoted' and that she was only referring to freedom fighter Udham Singh.

In her tweet in Hindi she maintained: "...People should not be misguided by the moment of falsehood. The truth is that the power of Sun light always prevails. The truth of the matter is that yesterday, I said; I cannot tolerate any insult hurled on (freedom fighter) Udham Singh".

In May this year too during peak of election season, Ms Thakur had described Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, as a 'Deshbhakt (patriot)'. An anguished Prime Minister Narendra Modi had then said, "I will never be able to forgive them for insulting Bapu.' (UNI)
