Lucknow, Nov 28 : At least seven people were killed and several others injured in two separate road accidents on national highway in Uttar Pradesh, police said here on Thursday. The accidents took place late on Wednesday night.
In the first accident on Agra-Lucknow expressway, four people were killed and 25 others injured in Kannauj while in Chandauli district in eastern UP, three people were killed in Chakia area. A report from Kannauj said that a private double-decker bus coming from Jaipur and going to Bihar overturned after hitting the road divider under Tirwa police station area at around 2300 hrs on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police Amrendra Prasad Singh said on Thursday that most of the injured and deceased, who were yet to be identified, hailed from Bihar. The injured were admitted to the hospital in Kannauj where condition of 10 was stated to be critical.
Another report from Chandauli said that an SUV dashed against a road side tree killing three people and injuring seven others in Chakia area.Police sources here said the accident occurred near Muzaffarpur village on Ahraura highway. In the accident Ramu( 35), Awadhesh(45) and another unidentified were killed on the spot.
Of the seven injured, condition of 5 were stated to be critical who were rushed to Varanasi. UNI
