Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), Nov 27: In a flawless and textbook mission, ISRO's workhorse launch vehicle PSLV-C47 today successfully launched the 1,625-kg Cartosat-3--the third generation agile advanced earth observation satellite and 13 nano satellites from the US into the desired orbit.
After a smooth 26-hour countdown, PSLV-C47 took off majestically from the second launch pad at 9:28 am from the SHAR Range here. About 17 minutes after the lift off, Cartosat-3, with a mission life of five years, was first injected into a 509-kg Polar Sun Synchronous Orbit with an inclination of 97 deg to the Equator.
It was followed by the separation and injection of 13 nano satellites in a span of another eight minutes, thereby crossing a significant milestone of launching 300 foreign satellites from Indian soil. (UNI)
