Srinagar, Nov 26 : Two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were killed by security forces in an encounter during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said on Tuesday.
Giving details about the encounter, sources said troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation on Monday night at village Drabgam in Pulwama. However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village, militants hiding there opened indiscriminate fire with automatic weapons, they said adding the fire was returned ensuing in an encounter.
A militant was killed in the encounter late last night sources said. The operation was stopped due to darkness and resumed with the first light this morning.
One more militant was killed this morning, they said adding the militants were identified as Irfan Ahmad Sheikh and Irfan Rather of HM. Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. (UNI)
