The supreme court has ordered to conduct a floor test in Maharashtra assembly on Wednesday.
The BJP's Devendra Fadnavis has to prove his majority in the Maharashtra assembly on Wednesday’s floor test, said a three-judge bench. The Supreme Court ruled on a petition challenging the government formation by the BJP with the help of Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) leader Ajit Pawar in Maharashtra. All the new MLAs will be sworn in before 5 pm and the floor test will take place soon after that .
The court has also said that the floor test must be videographed and it must be presided over by an interim Speaker to be appointed by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari immediately.
The apex court also ruled that the floor test should be completed before 5pm. Swearing-in also should be completed following the floor test. The top court has directed the Pro-tem Speaker to administer oath to MLAs tomorrow
