New Delhi, Nov 26 : Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday said the Constitution of India is a reflection of the country's civilization, culture and ideals and called for celebrating this special day as a 'fundamental duty festival'.
Addressing a joint session of both the Houses of Parliament in the Central Hall on the 70th anniversary of the Constitution Day, the Speaker said a 'New India' can be built following the path shown by the Constitution.
'Constitution is our pioneer and it can be further strengthened by its creative use", Mr Birla said. He called upon the MPs to become an ideal for people so that it could send a message to people to perform their duties.
He said, 'on one hand the Constitution gives us the power of independence, and on the other it disciplines us.' (UNI)
