New Delhi, Nov 26 : Hailing the Supreme court order , asking the BJP Government in Maharashtra to hold a floor test in the state assembly on Wednesday, AICC spokesperson and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the apex court order exposes the character of the BJP.
Addressing reporters , Abhishek Manu Singhvi said,' the BJP’s character stands exposed post Supreme Court order on floor test.' The Congress leader accused the ruling dispensation of destroying the concept of Democracy.
“You have destroyed the concept of Democracy. You have destroyed the offices, high offices of governor and dragged even the prime minister office into these controversies. You have given a go-by to every no accountability. You have done this when in the middle of Constitution diwas as the most cruel joke… Your chaal, charitra and chehra stands exposed,” Mr Singhvi said.
Mr Singhvi who was also represented the Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena in Supreme Court questioned as to why the BJP wants to form the government by hook or crook. “The BJP has a time machine which is a conversion machine. From one side they make you enter and exit you as a converted one. This is the nature of BJP. You have seen a live example yesterday and that too under the nose of Supreme Court… Why there is so much desperation- By hook or crook I must make a government,” he said. The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that floor test for proving majority in Maharashtra assembly should be conducted by 5pm on Nov 27. A three-Judge bench headed by Justice NV Ramana directed that the floor test should be telecast live and the voting in the assembly should be undertaken through 'open ballot'.
The bench which also comprises Justice Ashok Bhushan and Sanjiv Khanna, said that Maharashtra Governor will appoint a pro-tem speaker, under whom the newly elected members will administer their oath. (UNI)
