Natonalist Congress Party (NCP) rebel leader Ajit Pawar who sided with the BJP and assumed power as Deputy Chief Minister a few days ago is believed to submitted his resignation.
The NCP had been making last-ditch efforts to bring back Ajit Pawar to the party fold just a day after he sided with the Bharatiya Janata Party to form the Maharashtra government.
Putting a big question mark on BJP's prospects at the floor test tomorrow, Ajit in a huff is learnt to have submitted his resignation as DyCM to Chief Minister Fadnavis.
The move comes close after the Supreme Court ordered trust vote on Wednesday. Sources said the resignation has made the BJP top brass come together to find ways to overcome the new crisis caused by the resignation.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar's extended family has been trying to push Ajit to resign. The party already removed him from the leadership of the legislature party.
