Sena, NCP and Congress moves SC against Maharashtra Governor

Agency News

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena and Congress have moved the Supreme Court on Saturday against the alleged ‘arbitrary move’ of the Governor of Maharashtra to facilitate the sworn-in of Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively.

All the parties have filed writ petitions in the Supreme Court against Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Governor of Maharashtra.

In a writ petition, filed by the Shiv Sena challenge the Governor BS Koshyari's "arbitrary and mala fide actions" for "installing a minority BJP government led by Devendra Fadnavis". Petitions before top court also demand that the governor's actions on the morning of Saturday, where he administered oath of office to BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and NCP leader Ajit Pawar as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively, should be declared illegal and Sena-NCP and Congress should be invited to form the government in Maharashtra.
