The police has conducted a raid at the ashram of self-styled godman Nithyananda at Hirapur Ashram in the outskirts of Ahmedabad city on Wednesday and arrested two women ashram managers for allegedly abusing children.
Police freed three minor children (a boy and two girls) from the ashram and allowed them to go with their parents. The arrest on Wednesday was made based on the statement by the minors.
The FIR, prepared by police blames that the children were subjected to child labour. Raid by police took place after Gujarat State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) made pressure. Earlier one Janardhan Sharma, who is close associate of Swami Nithyananda approached GSCPCR with a complaint of child abuse. Sharma, a-disciple-turned-foe of Nithyananda, had also moved the Gujarat High Court with a complaint that his children were tortured at the ashram.
