New Delhi, Nov 19 : The Congress party on Tuesday decided to reschedule its proposed 'Bharat Bachao Rally', which was scheduled to be held on November 30, to December 14.
"It has been decided to reschedule the date of 'Bharat Bachao Rally' on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11am at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi,'' tweeted KC Venugopal, AICC general secretary in-charge of organisation.
Mr Venugopal, however, did not reveal the reason for the postponement of the rally, the party sources said it was due to the ongoing Winter session of Parliament.
On November 16, the Congress had announced the 'Bharat Bachao Rally', the culmination of party's districts and state level agitations, against the economic policies of the Narendra Modi government.
The announcement was made by Mr Venugopal and party's communication in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala after a meeting of general secretaries, state in-charges, chiefs of frontal organisations, department heads, state unit chiefs and CLP leaders. "The meeting was called to discuss the agitation programme against the Central government's anti-people policies, especially economic slowdown, farmers distress, huge unemployment and other issues," Mr Venugopal had said.
Earlier in September the Congress had announced countrywide agitations against the economic policies against Modi government from October 15 to 22, however, it was postponed to November 5-15.
Then again, the Congress leadership extended the agitational programme upto November 25 and had decided to hold the Ramlila Maidan programme on November 30. (UNI)
