After strong protest from the students over a fee-hike, Human Resources Department (HRD) Ministry on Wednesday has decided to roll back the fee-hike.
“Scheme for economically weaker section will be implemented soon,” the HRD spokesperson said. Calling for a peaceful atmosphere, in a special request to the agitating students, he said that “It is time to get back to their classes”.
After a steep fee-hike decision by the HRD Ministry, thousands of student took to the path of agitation. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students clashed with police on Monday during their protest against a steep fee hike. As part of the fee hike, the rent for a single-seater room has been increased from Rs 20 per month to Rs 600 per month, while rent for a double-seater room has been increased to Rs 300 per month.
