New Delhi, Nov 13: Coming down heavily on the Yediyurappa government, Congress on Wednesday said the Supreme Court's decision upholding the disqualification of ‘Defector MLAs’ has burst the bubble of BJP’s ‘Operation Kamal’.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said on twitter, 'It’s now proved that BJP brazenly and illegally brought down an elected JD(S)-Congress Govt in Karnataka. Yediyurappa government is an illegitimate government and should be dismissed.'

The senior Congress leader said, 'Democratic mandate and Constitutional principles demand that not only the ‘illegitimate’ Yediyurappa government should be dismissed but a full inquiry be also held into the sinister conspiracy of BJP to bring down an elected government by misusing ‘money power’.' He also demanded a probe of the truth of ‘Yediyurappa Tapes’, where did the ‘black money’ come from and Mr Surjewala asked what was the role of ‘BJP leadership’ in this sordid saga?

Mr Surjewala said, 'Ball’ is in PM Modi’s ‘court’.' Will you now give BJP tickets to the ‘Defector MLAs’, who have been ‘disqualified’ by the Supreme Court,' asked the Congress leader? If Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn’t take these steps, the onus of soiling the ‘Ganga of Democracy’ lies at his doorsteps.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld disqualification of 17 Karnataka MLAs from the 16th Legislative Assembly in July but struck down term of disqualification, allowing them to contest upcoming polls. (UNI)
