New Delhi, Nov 8: National Commission for Women chief Rekha Sharma on Friday asked Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to set up an inquiry into the mob attack on Deputy Commissioner Monika Bhardwaj during the November 2 clashes between lawyers and the police at the Tis Hazari court complex.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, as revealed in video footage, the NCW Chairperson said a First Investigation Report should be registered against the violators. Action taken in the matter should be communicated to the NCW within seven days, the letter said.
The video showed the woman officer being roughed up when a group of lawyers charged at her as she tried to intervene between lawyers and police during a clash on Saturday. (UNI)
