Over 300 FIRs have been registered across Punjab against farmers resorting to stubble burning, while around 100 of them were arrested, only to be bailed out.
In Tarn Taran, 52 FIRs have been registered and 36 farmers arrested. In Patiala, 77 cases under Section 188 of the IPC and 10 under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act were registered. At least 82 criminal cases have been registered in Muktsar district over the past three days and 10 farmers arrested.
The Ferozepur police registered 11 FIRs against 30 farmers and Ludhiana saw registration of 45 FIRs and 22 arrests. Yesterday, the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) had filed 34 challans in the court.
Three farmers were booked in Abohar, while 82 criminal cases were registered in Muktsar in the last three days and 10 farmers arrested.
