New Delhi, Nov 7 : A delegation of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) on Thursday met former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, ahead of his visit to Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.
"Ahead of the Kartarpur Darshan, a delegation led by Delhi Congress President Subhash Chopra presented a 'rumala' and 'chhatra' to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and requested him to offer it on behalf of the Delhiites at Kartarpur Sahib", the Delhi unit of the party tweeted.
Dr Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and two Union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri are likely to be part of the first batch of pilgrims. The Kartarpur Corridor connects the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan - the final resting place of Guru Nanak Devji - with Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur of Punjab.
The corridor is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indian side and by his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan across the border. Addressing a special session of Punjab Assembly to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, Dr Singh had said in Chandigarh, "Peace and harmony is the only way forward to ensure a prosperous future. The Kartarpur model may be replicated in future too, for a lasting resolution of conflicts". (UNI)
