A suspicious bag contained RDX was found at the gate number 2 of Terminal 3 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport in the early hours of Friday, officials said.
Preliminary investigations suggest the content of the bag to be RDX. It was checked by an explosive detector and a dog. However, the exact nature of the explosive yet to be ascertained, sources said.
The bag was found by CISF personnel after a check based on a phone call received around 1 am. The black-coloured trolley bag, which was lying unattended was found near gate number 2 of the arrival terminal, near pillar number 4.
A bomb disposal squad along with a dog squad was called to the spot immediately. The explosive is currently under observation and a final conclusion could be reached only after 24 hours. Canine squad ascertained that the content inside the bad could be an explosive or an improvised explosive device (IED), but it is not clear at present, the sources said.
In view of the bomb threat, security has been tightened at the Delhi airport.
