The West Bengal Chief Minister,Ms. Mamata Banerjee, has condemned the brutal murders of six labourers from her state in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam on Tuesday, calling for strict action against the terrorists who carried out the massacre.
'We are shocked and deeply saddened at the brutal killings in Kashmir. Five workers from Murshidabad lost their lives. Words will not take away the grief of the families of the deceased. All help will be extended to the families in this tragic situation,' Ms. Mamata Banerjee said
Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mr Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, called the act 'barbaric' and criticised the Indian government for the lapse in security for the people from his district of Murshidabad who had gone to Kashmir looking for employment.
'..terrorists attacked and killed five poor people in a barbaric manner. The people were all from my district Murshidabad. They relied on the trust of the Indian government and went to Kashmir for their bread and butter but died. I am deeply hurt...the criminals should be punished severely,' Mr. Chowdhury said in a strongly-worded tweet in Bengali.
