Outgoing J&K Governor meets Modi

New Delhi, Oct 26 : A day after being shifted to Goa, outgoing Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.
On Friday, President Ram Nath Kovind transferred Malik to Goa.

He met Mr Modi at the latter 's official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg  and PMO tweeted a picture of the meeting.

He was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 2018, and it was during his tenure that the decision to abrogate Article 370, which gave special status to J&K, was taken on August 5 when the Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir Re-organisation Bill.

Gujarat cadre IAS officer Girish Chandra Mathur was appointed Lieutenant Governor of newly created Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir and former Defence Secretary RK Mathur was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

On October 31, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will become two separate Union Territories to be governed by Lieutenant Governors.(UNI)
