New Delhi, Oct 25 : There were 13,08,252 newly registered employees who paid contribution during August in the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) Scheme, according to government data released on Friday.
During September 2017 to August 2019, a total 2,75,99,241 new subscribers joined the EPF scheme, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation stated.
During September 2017 to August 2019, total 2,97,50,339 new subscribers joined the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme.
During September 2017 to August 2019, a total 15,10,475 new subscribers joined the National Pension Scheme (NPS).
As many as 51,918 new subscribers joined the scheme in August 2019.
The present report gives different perspectives on the levels of employment in the formal sector and does not measure employment at a holistic level.
Since April, 2018 this Ministry has been bringing out the employment related statistics in the formal sector covering the period September 2017 onwards, using information on the number of subscribers who have subscribed under three major schemes, namely, the EPF Scheme, the ESI Scheme and the NPS.
