AAP hits out at BJP over Kanda

Agency News

New Delhi, Oct 25: As BJP which fell short of majority mark in Haryana faces criticism over reports that it was mulling to take support of independent legislator Gopal Kanda to form the government, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday took a pot-shot at the saffron party, saying it could go to any extent to grab power.

Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said that BJP which is likely to join hands with a person like Gopal Kanda who is an accused in a criminal case of abetment to suicide of an air hostess is a clear example of the fact that it could stoop to any level to form its government.

He said that BJP's slogan “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” of nurturing and educating girl child was sounding hollow.

He said it was shameful that the same party that had once bitterly opposed Gopal Kanda in the criminal case and demanded his arrest was ready to take his support. The public will definitely teach a lesson to the party if it includes people like Gopal Kanda on its side, Mr Singh added.

Addressing a press conference here with another AAP leader Atishi Marlena, the Rajya Sabha MP said that Kanda is a person who is an accused in a matter wherein a Delhi airhostess allegedly committed suicide and her mother also committed suicide when justice was not delivered.

AAP leader Atishi Marlena questioned the BJP, wondering whether BJP's protest against Kanda was limited to the extent when he was an independent MLA and was in support of Congress. ``Today, same BJP is ready to team up with the same man against whom it had protested only to be able to form its government,' she added.
